Ruth Cannon BL

Ruth is a barrister practising in Ireland and a lecturer in Property Law and Evidence Law at the Technological University of Dublin.

Ruth was called to the Irish Bar in 1999, having previously obtained an LLB from Trinity College, where she was a Scholar, followed by a BCL (taught Master’s degree) from Oxford University.

Ruth has appeared as Junior Counsel in the Circuit and Superior Courts in all areas of landlord and tenant, probate and property law including but not confined to ejectment proceedings, boundary disputes, disputes in relation to interpretation of deeds and leases, easements and adverse possession claims, claims under the Landlord and Tenant (Amendment) Act 1980 and the Landlord and Tenant (Ground Rents) Acts 1967-2019, applications under Sections 25 and 26 of the Trustee Act 1893, Sections 26, 27 and 117 of the Succession Act 1965 and Section 50 of the Land and Conveyancing Law Reform Act 2009.

Ruth has published widely in the area of property law and currently edits the Conveyancing and Property Law Journal. She has delivered many papers on property law at academic and professional conferences and presentations on property law to semi-state bodies and solicitors’ firms.
